Professor Glenn Salkeld

A venerated scholar, Dr. Glenn Salkeld, has devoted over 30 years to public health research, distinguished by a Ph.D. in Preventive Health Care Economics. His pioneering efforts in the screening and evaluative diagnostics are underscored by a multi-criteria decision analysis approach.

In 1987, Dr. Salkeld was honored as the inaugural recipient of the NHMRC training scholarship in his field, setting off a formidable career path. Originating from the Australian College’s Executive Health Service Management program, Glenn’s experiences span across esteemed teaching hospitals, including Westmead and Royal North Shore.

Dr. Salkeld’s esteemed status in health economics is reflected by more than 100 scholarly articles and an impressive 6,000 citations on Google Scholar. As a founding researcher of the NHMRC-funded STEP program, his invaluable contributions have dramatically advanced the screening and treatment of cancer.

With a current Google Scholar h-index of 43 and a scope index of 36, he leads the field in health economics, overseeing significant research contributions at the Sydney School of Public Health. Under his directorship, the school achieved a number-one ranking in the Asia-Pacific region and 18th globally in the AWRU Public Health School rankings.

A pivotal figure within healthcare advisory organizations, from the Pharmaceutical Benefits Advisory Committee to WHO consultancies, Dr. Salkeld has played a key role in global health education across nations including South Africa, India, Iran, Estonia, China, and Hungary.

Now spearheading the Arts, Social Sciences, and Humanities division at the University of Wollongong, Dr. Salkeld is committed to driving societal transformation through pioneering early-start programs and disciplines ranging from Arts and Communication to Social Health and Human Inquiry. His current academic stewardship is marked by a relentless pursuit of community enrichment and psychological advancement, since August 1, 2020.
